Findlay’s river-widening project is advancing this week, helped by warmer and drier weather. Dirt from the north bank of the river was being dumped into numerous trucks and hauled away Monday. The top photo was taken while looking east toward Findlay’s new green waste site on North Cory Street. The bottom photo was taken while looking east from the south side of Swale Park. The $6.1 million project is widening the river by cutting “benches” into the north riverbank for about 3,500 feet between the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge and Broad Avenue. The benches are meant to increase the river’s capacity during flooding situations. (Photos by Randy Roberts)
