Under Wednesday’s gray skies and misting rain, Hancock Park District Natural Resource Manager Chad Carroll tackles a multi-branched bush honeysuckle in Blue Rock Nature Preserve. Park district staff members are taking advantage of winter’s “no-mow” months to remove invasive woody plant species in the park system. Such plants displace native plants while not offering wildlife good nutritional value. Native trees and wildflowers will be replanted in spring and fall. Blue Rock Nature Preserve is located at Edgar Avenue and Bank Street in Findlay. (Photo provided)
