2 adults, 2 youths arrested after Tiffin robbery

TIFFIN — Two adults and two juveniles were arrested Tuesday afternoon after an armed robbery was reported in the 100 block of Melmore St. According to a press release from the Tiffin Police Department, "The victim reported that individuals displayed what appeared to be a handgun during the commission of the robbery." Patrol officers and detectives responded to the scene and began interviewing the victim and witnesses, and four individuals were taken into custody within 50 minutes of the initial call, the release states. "Investigators also recovered an airsoft style handgun believed to have been used during the incident," it states. Tiffin Det. Sgt. Justin Nowak said the airsoft gun "was essentially a replica firearm," making it difficult for the average person to distinguish from a real gun. The weapon was not fired during the incident, he said, and no injuries occurred. Nowak said the location of the robbery was a personal residence, and "appears to be a preplanned event," instead of a random incident. A personal item taken during the event was recovered, he said, and the four suspects were taken into custody after they returned to the area and were identified by the victim. According to the press release, two adult suspects, Oliver Armstrong, 18, and Trenton Cook, 18, each have been charged with complicity to aggravated robbery. One juvenile has been charged with complicity to aggravated robbery, while a second juvenile has been charged with Aggravated Robbery. Nowak said all four suspects remained in custody as of noon Wednesday afternoon, pending initial hearings with bond.
