Flag City rolls to 10-0 win

FINDLAY – Three Flag City pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout and the Sluggers delivered a number of clutch two-out hits in beating Xenia – and the rain – 10-0 on Wednesday in a seven-inning Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League game at the Marathon Diamonds.Grady Mason, a Van Buren graduate, started and threw 2-2/3 hitless innings. Jackson Urenovitch came on with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the third, and got out of the jam when Sluggers centerfielder Mickey Anderson ran down a drive to the left-center warning track by Xenia's Gabe Mathison.Urenovitch allowed one hit over 2-1/3 scoreless innings to get the win, his third in four decisions. Julius Robichaud finished up in a game shortened to seven inning s because of the 10-run rule.Flag City scored in every inning but one, and did so with some clutch hits.Miles Mitchell and Jovanny Skrelja had two-out RBI singles in the first inning, Anderson had a two-out RBI double in the second, and Drew Tajblik had a two-out RBI single in the seventh that put Flag City up 10-0.Anderson, 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles, doubled in two runs in the fourth inning, and Williams Barnes belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.Brett Reed (1B, 2B), Mitchell (2-1B, 2 RBI), Tajblik (2-1B, RBI) and Skrelja (2-1B, 2 RBI) also had two hits for the Sluggers, who pounded out 15 hits in posting their eighth win in nine games and improving to 11-6 overall.
