Park cools down Sluggers

MUSKEGON, Mich. – It was a scorcher in Michigan on Tuesday, but Muskegon pitcher PJ Park managed to cool off the Flag City Sluggers in the Clippers 10-4 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League win.Park pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. Three relievers finished up for the Clippers, who evened their record at 11-11 overall and 5-5- in the GLSCL North Division.Flag City had won three straight and 11 of 13 entering Tuesday's game. The Sluggers were outhit 13-8, though, and committed two errors in dropping to 6-4 in the division and 14-8 overall.Drew Tajblik had two doubles and Brandon North and Trenten Smith had RBI singles for Flag City. Smith and Miles Mitchell drew bases-loaded walks in the seventh inning and North lined an RBI single in the ninth, but Muskegon's lead was enough to withstand two small Flag City rallies in the later innings.Muskegon jumped to a quick 6-0 lead. Jonnie Gifford had a two-run single in a four-run first inning and added a solo home run in the fifth.
