Dinosaurs and birds this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has some wonderful programs available the week of July 12 - 18, 2026: Dinosaurs had such large, shiny teeth! At Storytime on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room this week, let's learn how to best take care of teeth and what to expect during a visit to the dentist with special guests from Owens Community College Dental Hygiene School. Share a story and a song, then explore dino dental care with lots of fun themed activities and a craft. Your child will have so much fun they might not even realize they are learning important skills for future reading! Join in for art, science, and engineering projects in our Makerspace for kids on Tuesday, July 14 at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. This week's theme is Storybook STEM. Time to unearth some fun with birdhouse decorating on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. Join in for a night of hands-on crafting and decorate birdhouses for our summer gardens. All supplies will be provided. This program is for teens in grades 6 – 12. Space is limited and registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events. On Tuesday at 7 p.m., join in virtually for a thrilling evening with acclaimed author Karin Slaughter and chat about her North Falls series, consisting of We Are All Guilty Here, and her upcoming sequel, The Secrets We Hide. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday & Friday at 9 a.m. in the Early Literacy Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. Starter Storytime at the library will take place on Wednesday & Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. Sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments. This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills. This week's theme is Tea Rex Party. Storytime is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Arlington Branch, located at 232 North Main Street in Arlington. Come and enjoy some special time together reading, singing and rhyming with your little one. There will also be having a Tea Rex Party in Arlington. On Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, the Thrills & Chills Book Discussion will take a look at Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie. This month, Passport Picnic is headed to China! Join the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library for a monthly midday journey that brings the world to your table. Each session highlights a different country's culture, traditions, cuisine, and everyday life, no passport required. Come travel the world on your lunch break! Our second Virtual Author Talk of the week is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. Reyna Grande will join invirtually to talk about her ambitious new memoir, Migrant Heart: Essays About Things I Can't Forget, illuminating her personal experience of the hidden cost of the American Dream and the complex journey of her healing. Do you have a WIP sitting around waiting to be finished? Do you just need to set time aside to work on a craft? Join the library on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office for our monthly craft circle where all crafts are welcome! Join the library for our brand-new fossil-themed escape room. Search the museum and solve the clues…before time runs out! This escape room was designed with puzzles for grades 2-8. Older family members are welcome to sign up too, but it is not recommended for children under grade 2. (If a child is 8 years old or younger, they must attend with an adult.) The escape room will be available by registration only at findlaylibrary.org/events by clicking on the time slot you wish to attend and filling out the form.
