Even more dionsaurs and a 1000 Books Celebration this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has some wonderful programs available the week of July 19-25, 2026: Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Younger Room, join in for our brand-new fossil-themed escape room. Search the museum and solve the clues…before time runs out! This escape room was designed with puzzles for grades 2-8. Older family members are welcome to sign up too, but it is not recommended for children under grade 2. (If a child is 8 years old or younger, they must attend with an adult.) The escape room will be available by registration only at findlaylibrary.org/events. Adult Book Bingo is slated for 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the Lindamood Room. Prizes will be adult gently used items or advanced reader copies. Bring a friend or family member to have a good time and play bingo for book prizes. Join the library for Tea Rex Party Storytime at the library on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. This Storytime will be an extra special end of the season event with "tea", sweets, stories, songs, a few cute videos, and an opportunity for a photo with a 'T-Rex'. Your child will have so much fun they might not even realize they are learning important skills for future reading! Summer Connect continues this week on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Hancock Historical Museum at 422 W. Sandusky Street and again on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Whittier Primary School, 733 Wyandot Street. Join other community organizations for fun, games, and exciting activities. Plus, kids can take home free books. Come connect, play, and explore! Makerspace for kids is scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. This week, we'll paint with paint. How can we do that? Join in to find out! Let's get creative with collage! On Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, join the library for an evening of collaging for teens. Whether you are journaling, vision boarding, or just looking to make a unique art piece, this is the perfect opportunity to get together and craft something new. All supplies will be provided. This program is open to teens in grades 6 – 12. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday & Friday at 9 a.m. in the Early Literacy Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. Starter Storytime at the library will take place on Wednesday & Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. Sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments. This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills. This week's theme is Dino Storytime Favorites. Take a short trip to Arlington for a special Arlington Storytime Favorites on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at our Arlington Branch, located at 232 North Main Street. Read stories, do activities and a craft. Spend some family time together and enjoy a great story or two! Tween Drawing Club takes place on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. Join in for art projects and hang out with other young artists. This month will be imagining and drawing what is under a garden. Will it be carrots, tree roots, earthworms, buried treasure, or something else? You get to decide! This program is designed for children in grades 2-8. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for the children attending at findlaylibrary.org/events by clicking on the event for the form. Friday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, learn what a geode is, how they form and lots more about these very special rocks from Chris Allen of the Hancock Parks District. Participants will also be able to view a wide variety of geodes. This program is designed for children in grades 2-6. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Families are invited to the 1000 Books Celebration to recognize our amazing young readers and who are reading 1000 Books Before Kindergarten on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a fun, special way to introduce your children to the wonderful world of reading. This popular early literacy program encourages parents and caregivers to read to their children, which helps prepare them for school readiness and lifelong success by building a strong foundation for later reading and writing. Whether you have completed the program, are participating, or would like to learn more about the program, this party is for you! We will read a story, hold a brief ceremony, make a craft, and for the grand finale, there will be a bubble dance party! We hope to see you there to celebrate the magic of reading!
