More downtown parking time proposed

FINDLAY — Visitors to downtown Findlay may soon get more parking time. The Findlay City Council Streets, Sidewalks & Parking Committee has recommended increasing time limits in several downtown parking areas from two to three hours near the downtown, according to its report. The committee met on Monday. The additional parking time would be made available on several streets intersecting with Main Street, both east and west, including Lincoln, Hardin, Sandusky and Crawford Street, along with parking on East Main Cross and Broadway Street. The committee also recommended removing the "head-in parking only" signs on Broadway Street and adding arrows to make the signs directional and compliant with the Ohio Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the statewide standard that governs how traffic signs must be designed and installed. A third recommendation calls for replacing the existing sign in Lot K, near the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway St., with one that reads "Reserved Spaces 6 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays" and relocating the sign to the south side of the nearby traffic light. The Streets, Sidewalks & Parking Committee is chaired by Councilwoman Nichole Coleman, R‑1, and includes council members Carol Smith, R‑3; and Brad Wagner, R‑at‑large.
