Cop stabbing suspect jailed

GIBSONBURG — The man accused of stabbing a Gibsonburg police officer on Wednesday was jailed after receiving medical treatment. Scott A. Dodd, Jr., 25, no address listed, is facing one first-degree felony count of felonious assault. The charge was elevated from a second-degree felony due to the alleged victim being a law enforcement officer. After his apprehension on Wednesday, he was taken to a Toledo hospital to be medically cleared. Later that day, he was incarcerated at Sandusky County Jail. WTOL reported that the officer who was stabbed is 25-year-old Maria Kisha. Gibsonburg police Chief Don Karr said Kisha was stable after surgery at a Toledo Hospital. Kisha worked for the Stow, Ohio, police department for three months in 2024. She resigned with no pending discipline, according to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy website. She then worked for the Put-in-Bay police from May to December last year and resigned with no pending discipline. Kisha signed up as a full-time officer with Gibsonburg on Dec. 21, according to the academy.
