Community rallies behind Awakening Minds at art auction

FINDLAY — More than just an evening of art, the 16th annual Awakening Minds Art Auction brought together artists, families, businesses, volunteers and community members to celebrate the transformative power of creativity while raising well over $50,000 to support the mission of Awakening Minds Art. Held Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn, the fundraiser featured original artwork created by AMA students, inspiring stories of confidence and connection, and an outpouring of support from the community. This year's event also recognized Cancer Patient Services as the 2026 honorary agency for its longstanding partnership with AMA and its commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families throughout the region. "This evening is a reminder that art is so much more than something we create," said Sarah (Crisp) Ricker, founder of AMA. "Art builds confidence. It creates connection. It gives people a place to belong. The generosity shown by our community ensures that affordable, accessible art programming continues to change lives across Northwest Ohio." Funds raised during the event will directly support AMA's programming, allowing the organization to continue serving individuals of all ages and abilities through community classes and partnerships with schools, agencies, senior living communities and other organizations throughout the region. In addition to celebrating the artists, the event recognized the many volunteers, sponsors, donors, community partners and supporters whose generosity makes the nonprofit's mission possible. The organization thanked everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered, placed bids and helped make the evening a success. "We're continually humbled by the support of this community," Ricker said. "For nearly two decades, you've shown us that art matters. Because of you, more individuals will experience the confidence, connection, and joy that art can bring." AMA has provided affordable, accessible art experiences since 2009, serving individuals of all ages and abilities throughout Northwest Ohio. Through community partnerships, inclusive programming and creative expression, the organization empowers participants to build confidence, strengthen communication, foster meaningful connections and discover the joy of creating.
