That means that Glenville's football team is out and Hunting Valley University School is in. University will travel to Salem tonight for a Division III second round playoff game. Glenville won the Division IV state championship last year. The OHSAA made a ruling Oct. 29 that removed Glenville from the playoffs. A court order, issued by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Andrew J. Santoli, had restored the Tarblooders to the playoffs, and meant that last Friday's game against University was still on. University, however, opted not to play Glenville Friday, with officials saying it would abide by whatever the eventual court decision was. The OHSAA filed an appeal Wednesday to stay the court order, and the appeal was successful. "The OHSAA and our member schools are committed to the integrity and fairness of our tournaments," said Doug Ute, OHSAA Executive Director, in a release from the organization. "While it is a difficult decision to remove students from a tournament, all member schools must abide by the rules and regulations that they have voted into place and that the OHSAA works to enforce." In its press release, the OHSAA said it would continue to work with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District regarding participation opportunities for non-enrolled students in the district.
