Steel Vengeance wins Golden Ticket Award

SANDUSKY — There is no denying: When the Steel Vengeance roller coaster debuted this past spring, the excitement and buzz filled the midways far beyond the echoing sound of the lift hill.Standing around and watching guests' reactions — from "What just happened?" to "That was awesome!" and, of course, "Wow!" — for the world-record breaking hyper-hybrid roller coaster was fascinating. Lines for Steel Vengeance have been long all summer, with hundreds of guests rushing to get into the queue as soon as the gates opened.Despite some minor hiccups throughout the season, Steel Vengeance has proven very popular.Each year, Amusement Today, the leading publication on all things relating to the amusement park industry, including parks, rides, and ride manufacturers, hosts the Golden Ticket awards for the best of the best for the year. Ballots are sent out to industry representatives each year to cast their votes in a variety of categories, from best food to best park.The 2018 Golden Ticket Awards were handed out on Saturday at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.Cedar Point brought home the Best New Ride award for Steel Vengeance.Cedar Point last won a Golden Ticket Award in 2015 for Best Steel Coaster (Millennium Force) and Best Park in 2013.
