McComb pool opens today

McCOMB — The village's municipal swimming pool will open for a shortened season today with limited occupancy and guidelines in place from the state Department of Health. Village officials outlined the plan to council this week. The pool will be open daily from 1-6 p.m. for individuals who live, work and attend school in the village. There is no daily admission, but donations will be accepted to defray expenses. The slide and splash area will be closed. There will be a maximum of 50 individuals on premises. Upon entering the pool area, a temperature check and health screening will be done. A signed waiver, with name and address, will be required upon entry. Children younger than 16 won't be admitted without an adult, four minors per adult maximum, and children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult during their visit. Social distancing, staying at least 6 feet apart, is required or an offender may be asked to leave. Additional guidelines include: • A one-way entrance and one-way exit will be posted. • Patrons will be "strongly encouraged" to wear a mask when not in the water. Pool staff will wear masks, except lifeguards when observing swimmers in the pool. • A maximum occupancy of four individuals in each restroom. • Showers will be available to rinse off only. • Food and drinks will not be sold, but patrons may bring their own (no glass containers). "The (pool) closing date will be dependent upon the availability of staff," said Jamie Mehaffie via email, since most staff are unavailable with the beginning of school and college in the fall.
