Kuenzli cards 35 to lead Riverdale golfers

FOSTORIA – Riverdale's Andrew Kuenzli got his senior season off to a strong start on Friday in leading the Falcons to victories over Carey and New Riegel in a tri-match at Lakeland Golf Course. Already a two-time state qualifier, Kuenzli carded an even-par 35 in leading Riverdale to a winning 186 team total. New Riegel posted a 194 score, and Carey a 231. Reece Haley backed Kuenzli with a 44, while New Riegel's Cole Miller (45) and Sam Wipple (46) turned in the third and fourth best rounds of the way. Hayden Twining posted Carey's low score, a 53. Jenna Brown and Emma Kidd both shot 50 for Hopewell-Loudon. Edison's Lauren Neher posted the second best score of the day, a 43. LCC nips Bluffton BLUFFTON – Bluffton matched Lima Central Catholic stroke for stroke on Friday. But LCC's fifth man posted a bit better score than Bluffton's counterpart and the Thunderbird's used the scorecard playoff to win the Pirate Invitational at the Bluffton Golf Club. Led by the 2-over-par 74 of tournament medalist Kenny Lovett, Bluffton matched LCC's team total of 330. Micah Minnig carded an 82 and Wes Brauen and Jaden Coonfare both posted scores of 87. Upper Sandusky was third (367) in the eight-team tournament, Pandora-Gilboa (377) nipped Leipsic (378) by one stroke for fifth place, Van Buren's 'B' team was seventh (402) and McComb placed eighth (436). Upper Sandusky's Owen Knapp was medalist runner-up with a 76 to lead the Rams. Mason Brandt tied for sixth in the medalist ranks with an 82 as Leipsic's No. 1 golfer, while Grant Farthing led Pandora-Gilboa with a round of 86.
