Arlington man charged with shooting at deputy

An Arlington area man alleged to have fired a shotgun at a Hancock County Sheriff's deputy last week was indicted Tuesday with a first-degree felony count of felonious assault. Ronald Dean Lauck, 51, of 16091 Hancock County 8, Arlington, was also charged with intimidation, a third-degree felony; and obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony. All the offenses are alleged to have occurred while deputies were responding to a reported domestic disturbance on Aug. 26 at Lauck's residence, about 3 miles northeast of Arlington. Lauck was eventually taken into custody after exchanging fire with deputies, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office reported at the time of the incident. Deputies were assisted by a helicopter overhead from the State Highway Patrol's Aviation Unit, watching the site and helping deputies surround Lauck, the patrol reported. No injuries resulted from the incident. Lauck's felonious assault charge accuses him of attempting to harm a deputy with a 12-gauge shotgun. If convicted of that alone, he could serve a sentence of three to 16½ years, said Hancock County Prosecutor Phillip Riegle. Lauck was also charged with trying to intimidate the deputy and obstruct him in his duties. In other indictments issued this week: Amber R. Cohen, 40, of Fostoria, was charged with a second-degree felony count of felonious assault for allegedly harming, or trying to harm, a man with a car last week in Findlay. A Bo Guedea Sr., 37, of Lima, was charged with a second-degree felony count of robbery. He is accused of inflicting, trying to inflict or threatening to inflict physical harm on another person in attempting or committing a theft offense or in fleeing immediately after the theft attempt. Cecil Miller, 52, of 1447 Inglewood Ave., was charged with a third-degree felony count of domestic violence. Miller was convicted of domestic violence in South Carolina in 2008 and 2009. Rachel E. Mullholand, 40, of Arcadia, was charged with possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony. Tiffany M. Peace, 35, of Rawson, was charged with possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony. Harold E. Taylor, 39, of 812 Tiffin Ave., was charged with two drug offenses: possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony; and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Lindsay T. Berger, 31, of 215 E. Bigelow Ave., was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. John B. Barringer, 24, of Toledo, was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Michael L. Dillard Jr., 19, of Detroit, was charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Lewis M. Taylor, 36, of an unknown address, was charged with failure to make a court appearance in another case, a fourth-degree felony. Don D. Ballard, 33, of Wauseon, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Randahl T. Wheeler, 34, of 645 Scott St., was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Erin M. Firestone, 38, of 713 College St., was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
