Yu's late goal forges tie with Notre Dame

TOLEDO – Sophia Yu assisted on Findlay's first goal and scored the equalizer with just over seven minutes left as the Trojans forged a 2-2 tie with Toledo Notre Dame in Wednesday's Three Rivers Athletic Conference girls soccer match. Yu got the assist on Kaylee Brodine's goal nine minutes into play. After Notre Dame went ahead with two second half goals, Yu took a through pass from Paige Pinion and outmaneuvered Eagles' goalie Madi Soulis for the game-tying goal. Notre Dame had an 11-7 edge in shots on goal, but FHS keeper Hannah Domachowski came up with nine saves. Soulis had five saves for the Eagles (0-4-1, 0-1-1 TRAC). Colette Seager (3 intercepts) led Findlay with eight steals and Lexi Coward (3 steals) had a team-high seven intercepts. Nicole Rakestraw had six intercepts and four steals, Haylea Cough four intercepts and a steal and Addie Fox three steals and two intercepts. Findlay, which won the JV contest 3-0, is 1-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in TRAC play. L-BENTON &emsp;&emsp;9 ADA 0 ADA – Liberty-Benton pumped in four goals in a rat-ta-tat-tat four-minute barrage and rolled to a 9-0 win over Ada in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match. Alexis Rickenbacher had her second four-goal game of the season and added an assist for Liberty-Benton, which won its fifth straight match to improve to 5-1 overall. Brooke Deter had two goals, with Kaitlyn, Eyink, Taylor Ward and Mia Siferd adding one each. Olivia Bodie had three assists. L-B goalie Sophie Aschemeier made the save on the only two shots she faced. Olivia Green made 16 saves for Ada (2-4-0, 1-1-0 NCOSA). Hornets Fall 3-0 HARROD – Braylon Kennedy had a goal and an assist in lading Allen East to a 3-0 boys soccer win over Cory-Rawson. Allen East (2-3) had a 21-10 advantage in total shots. Cory-Rawson keeper Toby Wittenmeyer had 13 saves for the Hornets, who suffered their first loss after a 3-0-1 start. Findlay golfers 3rd OREGON – Four Toledo St. John's golfers shot 76 or better on Wednesday when the Titans dominated a Three Rivers Athletic Conference match at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Oregon. St. John's shot an even 300 to outdistance Toledo St. Francis (324) by 24 strokes in the seven-school event. Henry Rill's 76 was one of the top four scores for the Titans. Findlay finished third at 327, followed by Oregon Clay (333), Toledo Central Catholic (348), Fremont Ross 362 and Toledo Whitmer (368). Findlay's Nick Feighner fired a 75 to tie for second in the medalist standings. Grant Lane carded an 83, Keegan Faulkner an 84 and Zach Harris an 85 to complete the Trojans' team total. Adams cards 34 NORTH BALTIMORE – Van Buren's Taylor Adams shot a school-record 34 and tied for medalist honors on Wednesday in a tri-match played at Birch Run Golf Course in North Baltimore. Lima Central Catholic won the event with a score of 150. Van Buren was second with a 168, and Findlay third at 205. Libby Holman led Findlay with a 48. Casey Tate and Abby Powell both fired 51s, with Baylee Shoemaker adding a 55. Claire Recker backed Adams' record round with a 42. Ali Bishop and Grace Heitkamp both had 46s for the Black Knights. Tarbox scores ace ARLINGTON – Findlay's Kent Tarbox scored a hole-in-one at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Course on Wednesday, acing the 150-yard No. 12 hole with an 8-iron. Witnessing the shot were George Paul Sr., Zach Conn and Maranda Butler.
