Two dead of suspected overdoses in Margaretta Township

MARGARETTA TWP. — Two Castalia residents died following suspected overdoses on Thursday.First-responders headed to the 3300 block of U.S. 6 around 10 p.m., according to an Erie County Sheriff's Office report. There they found a 42-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man lying unresponsive in a residence. It is unclear how long the pair had been unconscious before two other people arrived at the home and dialed 911, according to the report.The report indicates that the pair did not respond to Narcan or life-saving efforts administered by deputies and Margaretta Township firefighters. They pronounced dead by Erie County Coroner Brian Baxter at the scene.Although deputies noted no immediate indication of drug use on or around either victim, according to the report, Chief Deputy Jared Oliver, of the Erie County Sheriff's Office, said authorities are investigating the deaths as suspected overdoses.An autopsy is anticipated.
