Service League collects 'Snacks for Schools'

The Findlay Service League will host a "Snacks for Schools" food drive beginning today through Saturday as part of its "Make A Difference Day" project. This is the second year the service league has hosted the food drive. The league is a 35-member organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The drive provides snack food for Findlay City Schools. The schools can then deliver the snacks in whatever way works best for students. The league coordinates with the community's Feed-A-Child Program to store the food. Feed-A-Child is a partnership between the United Way of Hancock County and the Findlay YMCA, and provides weekend meals to students in the community. Beginning today, donation boxes for the snack drive will be stationed at the following locations through Friday: • YMCA-Downtown Branch lobby, 300 E. Lincoln St. • Black Swamp Area Boy Scout Office, 2100 Broad Ave. • The Courier, 701 W. Sandusky St. • Blanchard Valley Center, 1700 E. Sandusky St. Donation boxes will also be stationed at league members' homes throughout the city. On Saturday, volunteers will be collecting snack food at both Walmart locations, 1161 Trenton Avenue and 2500 Tiffin Ave., between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Courier will also host a drive-thru drop-off on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. In 2019, the drive collected 90 large boxes of snacks that were donated to the schools. Snack donations should be nut-free and may include: granola bars breakfast bars; pretzel snack packs; Cheez-it snack packs; Teddy Grahams/animal cracker snack packs; Goldfish cracker snack packs; cheese crackers; apple sauce pouches; fruit cups; and snack pack pudding cups.
