CCW registration canceled through Dec. 6

Concealed carrying of weapons registration has been canceled by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office through Dec. 6 due to recent changes to COVID-19 restrictions announced by Gov. Mike DeWine. Changes will be made to the registration process and, beginning Dec. 7, appointments will be scheduled by the sheriff's office for the registration, according to a news release from Sheriff Michael Heldman. To set an appointment, call 419-424-7098. Appointments will be scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays. No appointments will be accepted via phone messages left at the sheriff's office. The appointments will be set in 15-minute increments, to allow process completion. Individuals should wait in a vehicle outside the sheriff's office, 200 W. Crawford St., until they are called for their appointment. Phone numbers should be left with the sheriff's office when making an appointment. Documents and payment should be ready at the time of the appointment. The change allows the sheriff's office to comply with the state's COVID-19 restrictions and ensure a safe environment for the public and sheriff's office staff.
