Arcadia schools search for next superintendent

ARCADIA — Arcadia Local Schools has started the search for its next superintendent. Current Superintendent Bruce Kidder, who retired at the end of last school year, was given a one-year retire/rehire contract by the district school board in July. Ohio law allows public employees to retire, begin collecting their pension, and be rehired into the same position. Kidder has served as superintendent of Arcadia schools since 2015. He has worked 37 years in education, with 34 of those in Ohio. The district is accepting applications until Dec. 21. Initial interviews will be held between Jan. 18 and Jan. 28. Second interviews will be conducted between Feb. 8 and Feb. 15. The board expects to announce its choice on Feb. 17. The new superintendent will have a start date of Aug. 1. Applicants are required to submit an introductory letter, an updated resume, current certification and three reference letters. Arcadia Local Schools has an enrollment of 540 students and relies on a 1% income tax and two emergency levies for operating expenses.
