John W. Poole Jr.

Pastor John Wallace Poole was born in Paris, Arkansas on April 25, 1945, to Alma Dee Logan and John Poole Sr., and later moved to Detroit, Michigan, at a young age. Pastor John W. Poole was married to Christine Poole and enjoyed a blessed and happy union for fifteen years. Christine currently resides in Findlay, Ohio. Because of his love and devotion to the word of God, John was appointed to pastor Unity Christian Ministries of Findlay, Ohio, where he served faithfully for seven years. In addition to his pastoral duties, John was very instrumental in the success of the Black Heritage Library's prison ministry with the Lima prison for the last three years. He also enjoyed teaching bible study at the Findlay Senior Towers. He was greatly loved by the residents that participated and they fondly referred to him as "The Walker Brigade." He not only embodied the love of God for God's people, but he also exhibited it on a continual basis. His favorite phrase was, "If you don't love me, you better not die." Pastor Poole spread much love, understanding, wisdom and humor wherever he went. He was the chaplain for the Findlay Kiwanis Club, Ohio Goldwing Road Riders Chapter "A", the Tuskegee Airmen Columbus, Ohio Chapter, and the S.A.C Community Outreach Non-profit Organization. He was also a member of the Findlay Ministerial Association and president of the Citizens Sheriff Academy Alumni Association. One of his most beloved hobbies was the study of airplanes and aviation. He was able to fulfill his desire to fly when he obtained his pilot license, which gave him great joy. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast who could be found riding his Goldwing bike most weekends with Christine. John was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Dean Logan and John Poole Sr., his first wife Shirley Dean Poole and his son Apostle Christopher Lewis Poole Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Christine Poole, his children, Shonna Poole of Detroit, MI, and Ingrid (Ronald) Poole-Curtis of Detroit, MI, three daughters to love, Natasha Poole of Arizona, Keisha Jackson of Las Vegas, NV, Meisema Diggs of Detroit, MI, and a special friend Susan Poole of Lima, OH; eleven grandchildren, Asia Sumers, Amya Wise, E-lisah (Tiyashia) Poole, Christopher Poole Jr., Joshua Poole, Kristiana Poole, Keshawn Poole, Joshua Dixon, Josiah Watkins, Angelica Poole and Jasmine (Bronte) Mathews; nine great-grandchildren, Lauriiell Brown, Laurren Brown, Mike Brown Jr., Zavion Brown, Anaya Pratt, A'zariyah Mathews, Hope Mathews, Anala Montoya, Amara Montoya and many loved ones, friends, and family.
