Man indicted in 2018 shooting death

A man was indicted Wednesday by a Hancock County grand jury in the 2018 death of a Findlay man. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison. Jayden Mark Edwards, 24, currently in state prison in Marion on another offense, was charged with complicity to aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of Jeffery L. Gary, 56, in February 2018 at his trailer at 1316 Fox St. Edwards was also charged with first-degree felony counts of complicity to aggravated robbery and complicity to aggravated burglary. All three counts contain a firearm specification, alleging Edwards had a firearm while committing the offenses. "The robbery and the burglary occurred at the residence and resulted in count 1 (complicity to aggravated murder)," Hancock County Prosecutor Phillip Riegle said. The indictment of complicity to aggravated murder alleges that Edwards "purposely caused the death" of Gary. In other indictments issued Wednesday: Joseph J. Salaz, 46, of 2400 Hollybrook Drive, was charged with a fourth-degree felony count of domestic violence. He was previously convicted of domestic violence in 2016. Anthony J. Johnson, 48, of Detroit, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony; and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.
