Fast start carries Van Buren past Upper Sandusky, 53-38

VAN BUREN — Van Buren dominated the first three quarters and cruised from there in chalking up a 53-38 win over Upper Sandusky on Wednesday in nonleague girls basketball action.Sparked by excellent offensive balance, Van Buren jumped ahead 14-9 in the first quarter and enjoyed leads of 27-17 at the half and 44-25 after three periods of play.Ali Bishop tossed in 12 points to lead the Black Knights. Breanna Tabler and Anna Durliat added 11 points each and Paige Bowman had nine.Durliat also grabbed nine rebounds in helping Van Buren own a 27-13 edge on the boards, and handed out five assists as well.Upper Sandusky's Kaidance Iles had a game-high 15 points in leading the Rams.
