George D. Doyle Jr.

George D. Doyle Jr., age 81, of Findlay, passed away at 6 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at his residence in Findlay. George was born on November 9, 1939, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, to the late George D. and Kathryn (Lloyd) Doyle Sr. George was married to Shirley Winters on July 18, 1980, in Oakland, Maryland, and she survives along with a son, Donald Eugene Doyle of Findlay; a daughter, Jennifer Helene Doyle of Findlay; grandchildren, William Lee Doyle and Noah George Leeper; a brother, James Patrick Doyle of Mansfield, OH; and sisters Betty Kay Rugg, and Maggie (Sam) Thorp, both of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Barnes, and a stillborn sister, Sally Ann Doyle. George grew up in Connellsville, PA, and graduated from Connellsville High School. He served in the United States Army for 25 years with the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay, where he worked on the assembly line. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Findlay, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. George was a private person who enjoyed his family and being at home. He liked sports, including the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame football, ice skating and golf. He enjoyed history. George was independent and lived his life his own way. Visitation for family and friends will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday. Military rites will be performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Masks are required and social distancing requested, due to COVID-19.
