Boomers more likely to get vaccine

Baby boomers are more likely to get the COVID-19 vaccine. In a survey from healthinsurance.com, 75 percent of baby boomers said they would take the vaccine once available. The online poll surveyed 1,595 Americans, ages 24 to 74 years old. Samples were weighted for even sample results for millennials, Gen X and baby boomers. Percentages have been rounded to the nearest full percentage point. According to the survey, 51 percent said they experienced financial hardships due to COVID-19. Of the millennials, 52 percent put off medical care due to cost. Of those surveyed, 52 percent reported feeling financially insecure, including 37 percent of baby boomers. Telemedicine has grown since the start of the pandemic, with many providers preferring to use it over in-person visits. Since the start of the pandemic, 46 percent of baby boomers have tried telemedicine. The survey found 60 percent of participants are more comfortable with telehealth now than six months ago and 54 percent said they plan to use telemedicine after the pandemic, including 49 percent of baby boomers. In total, 7 percent of those surveyed said they were uninsured, including 6 percent of baby boomers. Over half of baby boomers surveyed believe masks are the most effective way to combat COVID-19 spread. Since the start of the pandemic, 72 percent of participants said they've shopped online more and 77 percent said they've shopped small businesses. Nearly half of participants said they don't believe small businesses will recover, however, and two-thirds believe it will take two or more years for the economy to recover.
