Findlay teen seriously hurt in two-vehicle accident

A Findlay teen was LifeFlighted to Mercy Health-St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo after sustaining serious injuries in a vehicle-truck accident at the intersection of county roads 236 and 212. According to a release from the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Lindsey Stultz, 17, of Findlay, was driving in the northbound lane of County Road 236 at about 1:06 p.m. Tuesday, approaching the intersection with County Road 212. A box truck, driven by Richard Zajac Jr., 37, of North Olmsted, was traveling east on County Road 212, approaching the intersection. A semitrailer was also traveling north on County Road 236, and stopped to turn left onto County Road 212, according to the sheriff's office. Zajac stopped at the intersection before entering the road to cross County Road 236. Zajac was unable to see Stultz's vehicle due to the semitrailer, according to the sheriff's office, and the box truck collided with the left-front of the vehicle. The impact of the crash pushed the vehicle into a utility pole and trapped Stultz. Hanco EMS personnel removed her using the jaws of life. She was then transported by LifeFlight for treatment of serious injuries to Mercy Health-St. Vincent's Medical Center, Toledo. The accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Washington Township Fire Department, Allen Township Fire Department, Owens Community Police and Ed's Towing.
