Jones Mansion serves Titanic-inspired lunch

The Jones Mansion, 313 E. Sandusky St., will hold a Titanic-inspired luncheon on April 17. Guests will drive up under the mansion's carport from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and have their boxed lunches delivered to their vehicles. The menu features food that was served or inspired by meals offered to Titanic passengers including Potage Saint-German spring pea soup; a fresh currant bun with whipped butter; an Edwardian-inspired salad with champagne-saffron vinaigrette; roast tenderloin of beef served as a sandwich with sides of horseradish mustard and mayonnaise; apple cake; and tea blended especially for the Titanic by Harney & Sons of England. A stout or lager beer can be added to the meal for $5, or a French red wine added for $7. These must be requested when purchasing tickets. In addition, all participants will receive the name and history of a passenger who was aboard the Titanic. The cost is $30 per boxed lunch. Meals are limited to the first 50 ordered by calling Jane at 419-722-7037. Proceeds will go toward the continued restoration of the mansion's second and third floors.
