Registration open for Camp 911

Camp 9-1-1, the safety camp for pre-K children, will return to an in-person format this year. Camp 9-1-1 is a joint effort led by local emergency response agencies, including Hanco, Findlay Fire Department, Findlay Police Department, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and Hancock Public Health. Camp 9-1-1 is also teaming up with the City of Findlay Recreation Department and its Keep Active Keep Healthy initiative to offer a variety of outdoor play activities. The activities became known as the "Superhero" recreation activities and was a favorite of 2020 campers. "Safety is our No. 1 priority, and we want to teach kids important safety lessons," said Findlay Fire Chief Josh Eberle. The camp will be available this year to 200 kids who will be entering kindergarten in 2021 across Hancock County. The in-person camp will present important safety lessons such as stranger danger, drug safety and pedestrian safety through a combination of demonstrations, videos and designed activities. Camp will take place June 14-18, with a morning session from 8-11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and an afternoon session 1-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
