Samuel L. Dyer

Samuel Lynn Dyer passed away on December 24, 2020, at his home in Findlay, Ohio. He was born on March 18, 1950, in Findlay, Ohio, to Carlos & Alma Mae Dyer. Sam grew up in Vanlue, Ohio. He graduated from Vanlue High School in Vanlue, Ohio, in 1969. Following high school Sam went to work at Sterling Abrasives (formerly ITT). Sam attended The Upper Room Church of God in Findlay, Ohio. He enjoyed coaching coed softball and running coed leagues in McCutchenville, Sycamore and Vanlue, Ohio, gardening, attending auctions, talking to family and friends on the phone and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and always left you with a smile on your face. He will be dearly missed. Sam is survived by his daughter Samantha (David) Misner of Pensacola, Florida; his son Matthew Dyer of Carey, Ohio; his grandchildren Cody Misner, Clay Dyer, Brogan Misner and Kayl Misner; his sisters Ruth Rose and Etta Dray; and brother Jerry Dyer and many nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Alma Mae Dyer and his siblings, William Dyer, Robert Dyer, Carlos Dyer Jr., Maudie Harrell, Donna Jean Dyer and Clarence Joseph. A memorial service will be held at The Upper Room Church of God, 520 W. Bigelow Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840 on April 10 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Terry McBeath officiating. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sam's life before the service from 1-2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Upper Room Church of God or to a charity of the donor's choice.
