Teen killed in Putnam County rollover accident

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — A teenager was killed in an early-morning rollover accident in Putnam County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that at approximately 3:56 a.m. Saturday, troopers with the Lima Post and Putnam County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Ohio 109, just north of County Road X. The patrol says a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix operated by Landon M. Bailey, 16, of Ottawa, was traveling south on Ohio 109 when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle reentered the roadway, crossed the road and went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times, ejecting the front-seat passenger before coming to rest on its top. Bailey was transported to Ottawa Ambulatory Mercy Health with nonlife threatening injuries. His passenger, Jagguare M. Rich, 18, of Ottawa, was also transported to Ottawa Ambulatory Mercy Health and was pronounced dead by Putnam County Coroner Jennifer Maag. The patrol says it is unknown at this time if Bailey was wearing a seatbelt. Rich was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Assisting at the scene were the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Leipsic Fire and EMS, Miller City Fire Department, Putnam County EMS and the Putnam County Coroner's Office. The crash remains under investigation.
