Helen I. Kutscher

Helen Irene Kutscher was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, on March 28, 1933, to Ruth and Olaus Olson, of Norwegian and Swedish decent. Helen grew up on the prairies of central Alberta with her siblings Ken, Doreen and Eric. She was an excellent student who loved to draw. As a young adult, Helen moved to Calgary and attended art school. While working as a commercial artist, she met Dr. Andrew Kutscher, who was completing a chiropractic apprenticeship. The two were married in Fremont, Ohio, in 1964 and soon moved to Findlay, where Helen was hired as Marathon Oil Company's first female commercial artist. Helen was active in the Findlay Art League, Christian Women's Club and Findlay Garden Club, and volunteered at the Mazza Museum. Helen was a proud and supportive parent to Andy, Mark, Jim and Kristine, and a loving grandmother to Candice, Andrew and Christopher. We feel grateful to have had her in our lives for so many years. We will miss her warmth and humor, her determination, her honesty and kindness. A true fashionista, Helen had the uncanny ability to remember what she wore to any event. A special thank you to the staff at Birchaven for their friendship and care. Due to COVID-19 concerns, a memorial service celebrating Helen's life maybe held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Findlay's CHOPIN Hall charity at chopinhall.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Coldren-Crates Funeral Home where condolences can be shared with the family by visiting coldrencrates.com
