Kay A. Vermillion

Kay Annette Vermillion will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. Kay was born Kay Annette Field to Lester and Elberta Field, both deceased, in Tiffin, Ohio, January 31, 1940. She lived most of her life in the Findlay, Ohio area, raising five rambunctious boys and one adorable girl. The boys, better known today as men, are Marcus, Joseph, Samuel, Eric, and Aaron. Kay's daughter, Elberta (Ellie) Bruno, took charge of making sure Kay was well-cared for the last years of her life. Some wonderful memories of Kay follow. Kay was a mover and a shaker. She loved to dance and roller skate. Plant life flourished under her green thumb. Lilac flowers were a particular favorite of hers. She loved her cuddly cat friends and the kids grew up with Smoky and Bear and other furry friends. The kids were raised in a rural area of Findlay and participated in 4-H projects, FFA, and raised chickens, rabbits, and even a cow, Bruiser. They had a blast and got into plenty of mischief when Kay was away. Kay became an expert seamstress and could make everything, from men's suits to gorgeous wedding dresses. She made granddaughter Brenda's wedding dress and daughter-in-law Mandy's elegant white temple sealing dress. She was always patient when teaching others about sewing. Her granddaughters all spent time with her to learn how to sew and make clothing for themselves. She was also wonderful at crocheting and knitting. You could say Kay was a crafty lady. She loved to make crafts of all types to make as gifts and also for a small business she started later in life. The kids and grandkids always looked forward to her homemade and wonderful Christmas gifts. Daughter-in-law Cynthia credits Kay with getting her very interested in collecting items for a miniature Christmas Village. Kay loved to play card games and dominoes. She loved baking goodies. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which she joined as an adolescent. Kay passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021, at Birchaven Village with Joseph and Ellie by her side. She is survived by her children, Marcus, Joseph (Tilda), Samuel (Cynthia), Ellie (Tom), Eric (Mary), and Aaron (Mandy) as well as 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Two of her four siblings, Phyllis Field Long and Arvin Field, survive her. Brothers Darwin and Morton and grandchildren Sarah and J.R. pre-deceased her. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 2800 Crystal Ave. in Findlay. The funeral services will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 2 p.m. with Bishop Craig Stapley officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
