Findlay golfer to represent Ohio in 2022 USA Games

Findlay golfer Chris Clapper has been invited to represent Ohio in the Special Olympics USA Games golf tournament in June 2022 in Orlando, Florida. Two years ago, Chris won his division at the Ohio Special Olympics competition, shooting a career-best 54 for nine holes. "We are all so proud of Chris," said Melanie Williams, director of Hancock County Special Olympics. "Everyone associated with Special Olympics in Hancock County is so excited for him." Clapper played in the Hancock County Special Olympics Golf Outing 17 years ago and got the golfing bug. His dad worked with him and helped hone his game. For years, Clapper played unified golf, in which individuals with disabilities are paired with golfers without disabilities. However, he eventually asked his coach if he could start playing singles. The switch has worked out, and Clapper said he continually works to improve his game. "Going to the USA Games is a great honor for me," Clapper said. "I'm going to keep practicing and working on my game. I want to make Hancock County and the entire state of Ohio proud when I go to Orlando." The golf competition will take place at the Orange County National Golf Center. More than 200 athletes will be participating.
