Area ready to celebrate Fourth of July

As the Fourth of July holiday fast approaches, area cities and villages have announced celebrations and fireworks displays to honor the nation's birth. The following is a listing of area Fourth of July fireworks displays and celebrations: Findlay Findlay and Hancock County's annual Fourth of July fireworks show, "Lighting Up the Sky," will take place on July 3 at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. The event is free and gates will open at 4 p.m. with food vendors on-site. The Cherry Bombs will perform on stage at 8 p.m., followed by a fireworks display at 10 p.m. The city will also hold the Fourth of July Parade at 11 a.m. The parade will start at Baldwin Avenue and move north on Main Street, ending at Center Street. Ada The Pride of Ada fireworks display will be held Friday at approximately 9:45 p.m. Fireworks will launch from the Ada Baseball Park fields near the village park. Fostoria The city of Fostoria will host its annual fireworks celebration July 3, beginning at dusk. The event will take place at Foundation Park, 1225 S. Union St., Fostoria. Ottawa God and Country Night with fireworks will make its return to the village of Ottawa July 3 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. The event will feature food trucks at 7 p.m. and a celebration of the U.S. at 9 p.m., with music from Voices of Faith and a time of recognition and prayer for first responders and military, with fireworks to follow. This event is free to the general public, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Bowling Green On July 3 at approximately 9:45 p.m., the city of Bowling Green will host its Annual Bowling Green Community Fireworks at the Wood County Fairgrounds, 1150 Haskins Road, Bowling Green. Parking will be available behind the fairgrounds off Brim Road, and overflow parking can be found across from the fairgrounds on Poe Road. Spectators must adhere to guidelines given by Ben Robison, director of the Wood County Health Department, which means remaining by their vehicles, wearing masks and staying socially distanced at all times. Tiffin The city of Tiffin will be celebrating the Fourth of July with events throughout the day at Hedges-Boyer Park, Tiffin. Food vendors will be set up at the park throughout the day. Additional funds are being spent on fireworks for the 2021 celebration after the 2020 celebration was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making this year Tiffin's "biggest ever" celebration. Swimming and pool games will take place from 1-7:30 p.m., live music from Jake Heil and Bigfoot's Brother can be heard from 6-10 p.m., and a fireworks display will be held at 10 p.m.
