Myers indicted for Bogle death, sexually motivated

FREMONT — The area man accused of killing Heather Bogle was indicted Monday on two counts of aggravated murder by a special grand jury who believed the death was sexually motivated.Daniel Myers, 48, of Green Creek Township, possibly faces the death penalty, or life in prison, if convicted on the murder charges.The grand jury concluded there was evidence the death was sexually motivated and, as such, they also accused him of being a sexually violent predator.Sandusky County Prosecutor Tim Braun declined to elaborate on the indictment but did discuss the sexual motivation specification."It's sexual motivation which does not require a rape," Braun said.Myers was also indicted on using the weapon to kidnap Bogle and with robbery.He has been in the Sandusky County jail without bond since his June 2 court appearance before Judge John Kolesar in Sandusky County District Court Number 1.Myers will now appear at 10 a.m. Tuesday before Judge John Dewey in Sandusky County Common Pleas court.Bogle was found April 10, 2015, bound, shot and beaten in the trunk of her car which has been left in the parking lot of a Clyde apartment complex. Her hairline had been cut.Myers worked alongside Bogle on the same shift and on the same line at the Whirlpool plant in Clyde.Another case involving Myers has been reopened.The 2009 death of Leigh Ann Sluder is being given a second look. Sluder's body was found in a back bedroom of a mobile home trailer at Emerald Estates. Hilton said that man who found her was Daniel Myers, who at the time was living two trailers down. She had been shot in the chest. The gun was in the bed next to her. The death was ruled a suicide.Sluder and Myers both worked at Whirlpool, he said.Information provided by the sheriff's office shows Myers was also charged with assault on two separate incidents in 2004, domestic violence in 2001 and others.Daniel R. Myers was arrested Thursday June 1 by the Sandusky County sheriff's office and charged with murder. He worked with homicide victim Heather Bogle at the Whirlpool plant.
