Former resident's collection of Findlay Glass to be sold

More than 400 pieces of Findlay Glass from the collection of former resident Dan Menerey will be sold Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Jones Mansion, 313 E. Sandusky St. Menerey graduated from Findlay High School in 1973 and was a member of the swim team. He died Jan. 15 at the age of 66. Menerey's sister, Dana Menerey, said her brother's collection spanned over 40 years. "Dan loved antiques of any kind from furniture he restored to kitchen and farm utensils he could display," she said in an email. "Our family was raised and grew up in Findlay and I think that is what sparked his love of Findlay glass and connection." Menerey educated himself on the many different patterns of Findlay glass and enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, she added. The sale will include a variety of sizes, patterns and styles. Hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday with cocktails available, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. A portion of the proceeds will support two of Menerey's favorite charities including the Central Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and Special Olympics, South Central Region, Area 6. Menerey attended Ohio State University and earned a bachelor's degree. He worked his way up through the commercial banking industry and was a longtime employee of JPMorgan Chase & Co., where his latest role focused on high-level marketing and advertising strategy for national and international markets. He had been living in Westerville.
