Good Ole Summertime Festival returns to North Baltimore

NORTH BALTIMORE — The North Baltimore Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Good Ole Summertime Festival (GOST) will feature games, a street market, music, food and fireworks on Saturday. The festival, which began in 1979, is traditionally held on the last Saturday in July. Most activities will be held on North Main Street in the village. The GOST 5K will begin at 8 a.m. Race packets will be available at North Baltimore Nutrition, 142 N. Main St., beginning at 7 a.m. The entry fee is $20. A Zumba warm-up will be held at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:15 a.m. A golf tournament benefiting the North Baltimore Alumni Association Scholarship Fund will be held at Birch Run Golf Club, 14451 Deshler Road. A car show will be held on North Main Street from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with registration from 8:30-11 a.m. The registration fee is $15. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Classic slot car races will also be held. The National Anthem, flag raising and prayer will be held at 9 a.m. at the downtown gazebo. A street market with a flea market and craft show opens at 9 a.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street, continuing until 8 p.m. Military vehicles will be on display on West Broadway and the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food vendors, amusements and pony rides begin at 10 a.m. The North Baltimore High School marching band and cheerleaders will perform at 11:15 a.m. at the Millstream Area Credit Union lot. The GOST Improv/Talent Show will be held on the main stage from noon to 1 p.m. The North Baltimore Garden Club will host a flower show in the North Baltimore Public Library's Wolfe Community Room from noon to 5 p.m. The beer tent opens at noon. North Baltimore Cub Scouts will host bingo in the fire hall from 1-6 p.m. East of Cheyenne will perform on the main stage from 2-4 p.m., followed by Swingmania from 5-7:30 p.m. and Tongue n' Groove from 8:30-11:30 p.m. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. in the Huntington Bank parking lot. The registration fee is $60 per team. The festival will conclude with fireworks at the village park at 10 p.m.
