Voters to decide race for judge

Voters in much of Hancock County will be deciding a race for Findlay Municipal Court judge in the Nov. 2 general election. Republicans Stephanie Bishop and Garth Brown, both of Findlay, are vying to complete an unexpired term for judge, ending Dec. 31, 2023. Findlay Municipal Court has jurisdiction for Findlay and all townships except Washington Township. Bishop was appointed judge by Gov. Mike DeWine in April. She succeeded Mark Miller, who left the Findlay bench after he was elected judge for the State 3rd District Court of Appeals, Lima, in 2020. Bishop served as an assistant city law director for Findlay for 10 years and was a partner in the law firm of Hackenberg, Feighner, Bishop & Werth. She also previously served as an assistant city law director for the city of Fostoria. Brown was a partner with the law firm of Kentris, Brown, Powell and Balega before joining Drake, Phillips, Kuenzli & Clark. He became a partner at Drake, Phillips, Kuenzli & Clark in 1999. He is a former Findlay City Council member. In addition, November general election races for school board, village and township offices were set this week, with area residents filing petitions to be on the ballot. In most county school districts, three seats are up for election. Findlay City Schools has two school board seats up for election. In villages, four council seats are up for election. In townships, two trustee seats are up for election. Among area school districts, the slate of people filing petitions to run for school board includes: • In Findlay City School District: Matthew R.
