FHS tennis team knocks off Perrysburg, 3-2

PERRYSBURG – Findlay High's doubles teams capped off clutch wins with tiebreaker decisions and the Trojans scored an impressive girls tennis victory on Wednesday by knocking off Northern Lakes League power Perrysburg 3-2. Mia Kennard and Katy Rubiola made it a tiebreaker sweep at No. 2 doubles where they outlasted Perrysburg's Anna Snider and Lexie O'Connell 7-5, 7-5. Madison Barberree and Libby LaMaster capped their win over Perrysburg's No. 1 doubles team of Brianna Dunham and Allison Barry with a tiebreaker clincher, 6-2, 7-5. Findlay, 3-0- in dual matches after upending the 18-time NLL champions, also got a win at No. 3 singles where Ava Roach topped Rachel Ward 6-0, 6-3. Perrysburg claimed straight-set wins at first and second singles where Mona Abdul-Aziz (No. 1) doubled up Sydney Swisher 6-2, 6-2, and Emerson Metzger (No. 2), using a tiebreaker decision of her own, got by Mollie Quaid 7-5, 6-2. (14-sub head) Van Buren second BOWLING GREEN – Playing Bowling Green's Stone Ridge Golf Club for a second straight day, Van Buren lowered its team score by 17 strokes and went from tenth to second in taking runner-up honors in the Woodmore Wildcat Invitational. Carson Foltz carded a 76 and Weston Heitkamp a 79 on Wednesday. Isaac Dyer's 87 and Tanner Bahn's 91 completed the Knights 33 team total. On Tuesday, Van Buren posted a 350 score at Stone Ridge and placed tenth in the Toledo St. John's-hosted Titan Invitational.
