Ohio Horseman's Council hosts ride

The Northwest Region of the Ohio Horseman's Council will host its OHC State Ride from Friday through Sunday at Van Buren State Park, making it the fourth year the event will be held at the park. Activities will include silent and live auctions, a 50/50 drawing, a youth scavenger hunt, a poker run, a campsite decorating contest, and a pot luck dinner on Saturday. The proceeds from the ride will benefit the Harry Hughes Youth Equestrian Center and Van Buren State Park. In 2019, there were more than 120 horsemen from across the state that camped and rode at Van Buren State Park. Although last year's event was canceled due to COVID-19, there were still over 70 equine enthusiasts from 11 counties in attendance. You may put up your own corrals or tie lines. The Ohio Horseman's Council was started in 1972 as a group of trail riders who wanted to get outdoors with their equine friends. As advocates for Ohio's equine industry and access to public land for riding, the OHC is the largest nonprofit equine volunteer organization in the state of Ohio.
