Law enforcement search Ball Corp. after report of shooter

An alert of an active shooter at Ball Corp. on Sunday afternoon prompted a search of the facility by law enforcement. According to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement received an alert of a shooter at around 4:05 p.m. from the facility, 12340 County Road 99. The sheriff's office said units that were initially on scene cleared the building, including officers from the sheriff's office, the Findlay Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A second search of the building was conducted by the sheriff's office Special Response Team and the police department's Emergency Response Team. After both searches were conducted, the incident was determined not to be an active shooter situation, the sheriff's office said. The building was turned over to Ball Corp. management at 6:25 p.m. Lt. Mark Price said at the scene that the sheriff's office was not sure if the alert was triggered by a false alarm or glitch. Also assisting during the incident were the Findlay Fire Department, Allen Township Fire Department, LifeFlight, the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office. The incident remains under investigation.
