Gerald R. 'Jerry' Miller

Gerald R. "Jerry" Miller, 94, of Katy, Texas, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. Jerry led a long life filled with love for his family, lending a helping hand, and pulling fun-loving pranks. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran who served in World War II after enlisting at age 17. Upon his return, Jerry moved from his hometown of Alum Bank, Pennsylvania, to Findlay, in search of work. After working various jobs, Jerry became a mail carrier, a career he loved for 30 years. When he was not working or helping raise his family, Jerry was a devout Christian and deacon at Hope Temple while living in Findlay. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John Crawford and Bessie (Clark) Miller, and his brothers, Stanford and Clark Miller, all of Alum Bank, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his sister, Ivis Herr of Alum Bank; his daughters, Cindy (Terry) Bower of Monroe, Georgia, and Melinda Kay (Tim) Nesler of Montgomery, Texas; his son, David "DJ" (Christie) Miller of New Kent, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of more than 20 years, Emmy Padgett, and her family. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
