Library to offer monthly spice kits, storytimes

A new culinary kit for October, a course on tax-free investing and a spooky tour of the Hancock Historical Museum for teens are some of the featured activities at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library beginning today. New Spice World kits, which include a recipe for beef pares, will be available today through Saturday for those who reserved one. A history of the dish and some spices to prepare it are also included. The Monday Afternoon discussion group will meet at 1 p.m. on Zoom to discuss "The Officer's Daughter: A Memoir of Family and Forgiveness," by Ella Johnson. At 5:30 p.m. today, Andrew Stepleton from Edward Jones will show participants of Money Monday how some investments can deliver tax-free income. The program will be held in the Blanchard Room. Kirsten Steele from NWO will talk about risk factors for type 2 diabetes and how to delay and even prevent the disease at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. A Family Storytime will be held at 6 p.m. on Zoom. A Zoom Storytime will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Teens will enjoy spooky historical tales of Findlay at the historical museum at 6 p.m. Zoom Baby Storytime will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday featuring stories, songs and rhyming. A Tossed Treasures program will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. Those attending will learn about the environmental and nutritional impact of food waste in the United States and gain meal planning and food preparation skills. Storytime in the Park is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Waterfalls Pavilion in Riverside Park. Children of all ages can join Miss Nicole for songs, rhymes and stories. The 50 North book discussion group will meet at 10 a.m. at 50 North to discuss "Killer of the Flower Moon," by David Grann. At 6 p.m., Miss Sarah will host a Drawing Club meeting for youth in second grade and older in the Lindamood Room. Also at 10 a.m., book recommendations will be offered by staff members on Facebook during Book Talk. Teen book recommendations will be presented by members of the Youth Advisory Board at 10 a.m. Saturday on Facebook.
