Marathon, HONOR organize 5K race

HONOR, the Findlay chapter of the Marathon Petroleum Veterans Employee Network, will hold the inaugural Spirit of Freedom 5K Run, Walk, Ruck on Saturday at Riverside Park. The race day program will begin at 8:35 a.m., with registration and packet pickup starting at 7 a.m. at the Waterfall Pavilion, near 231 McManness Ave. The 5K race will start at 9 a.m. Race participants can choose to run, walk or ruck. Rucking involves carrying a weighted backpack while walking quickly. Ruck participants must carry at least 25 pounds in a backpack. The Hancock Memorial Squad, along with the Kenton High School JROTC team, will present colors. Mayor Christina Muryn will speak during the program, as will Bob and his service dog Molly, of Perrysburg. The cost to enter the race is $25. All entry fees collected will be donated directly to K9s For Warriors, a charity that provides highly trained service dogs to military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury or military trauma.
