L-B boys spoil Robson's big night

Nevin Robson nearly scored 30 points and roped in 20 rebounds, finishing with 26 and 16 for Hardin Northern.It just wasn't enough against Liberty-Benton, as the Eagles outscored the Polar Bears 33-23 in the second half to get a 64-51 season-opening win Friday.The Polar Bears kept it close through three quarters, though, as they were down just 40-36 heading into the final frame. The Eagles used a 24-15 fourth quarter tilt to get the 13-point win.Malik Eckford scored a team-high 16 points and dished out four assists in L-B's win. He also had five rebounds. Cason Doolittle etched in 14 points and five rebounds. Toby Collert finished with seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Cooper Conaway had ten points.Zeb Wilson knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points. Not only did the Ada standout score 26 points, but with his team down by one in the fourth quarter, he beat the buzzer with a banked in shot from the foul line, giving the Bulldogs a 60-59 win over Ridgemont. Carter Conley added 14 points for Ada, while Cayden Murphy scored 11. Landon Newland led the Gophers with 26 points, and Mason Stuck added 14. Ridgemont led 35-25 at the half, before the Bulldogs stormed back with a 20-11 spurt in the third. A big difference was at the foul line. The Gophers were perfect (8 of 8), but Ada got there more often, connecting on 17 of 28 free throws.
