UF's Keys tabbed as Coach of the Year

University of Findlay football coach Rob Keys has been named the 2021 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NCAA Division II Region 3 Coach of the Year. Keys had earlier been tabbed the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Oilers to their first conference title since 1997 and an 8-4 overall record. In his 11 seasons as Findlay's head coach, Keys has compiled a 75-43 overall record. His .636 winning percentage is the second-highest in program history of any coach who has coached more than 40 games. (14-sub head) All-N10 football Trennen Stoll and Anthony Bell were players of the year in their respective categories and Carey's Jonathon Mershman was named the coach of the year in the Northern 10 Conference all-league football selections for the 2021 season. Due to a league policy, the N10 does not release all-league information until all teams have completed tournament play in their respective sports. This year's football results were therefore not made available until after Carey defeated Coldwater in the Division VI state championship game. Stoll, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound senior, was selected the N10 Defensive Player of the Year after recording 22.5 tackles for loss and 61 total stops in regular-season play. Bell, a 5-11, 164-pound senior who converted 50-of-52 PAT kicks and two field goals, was the N10 Special Teams Player of the Year for the second straight season. Easton Korody, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound senior tackle who anchored a Carey offensive line that allowed the Blue Devils to score a school-record 440 points during the 10-game regular season, was a first-team all-N10 pick, along with quarterback Derek Lonsway (1,000 yards rushing and passing), 265-pound running back Jordan Vallejo (33 touchdowns), offensive lineman Ashton Clauss, linebacker Landen Kemerley (112 tackles, 25.5 TFL) and safety Bryce Conti (45 tackles, 5 ints.). Bell and junior punter Lance Rickle were the first-team kickers. Rickle at running back, Conti as a receiver, and offensive linemen Carson Pahl were second-team all-league on offense. Linemen Drew Steen and EJ Boes and linebackers Gage Summitt and Lance Woods were second-team defensive picks. Upper Sandusky sophomore Kaden Holman, who led the N10 in passing, was the lone first-team pick for the Rams. Receiver Zach Sheaffer and defensive lineman Lane Montgomery were second-team all-N10.
