Findlay Airport wins grant from infrastructure bill

The Findlay Airport will receive a $295,000 federal grant from the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed last month by Congress. The funds can be used to improve and replace runways, taxiways, and airport-owned towers, terminals and multimodal connections to the airport. The funds will cover 90 to 95% of the costs for improvements. Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn said city officials have not yet determined how the funds will be used. The funds could be available in a month. Nearly $254 million in federal funding will be given to airports in Ohio over the next five years, said U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, who spearheaded the infrastructure bill. "This airport funding is a big win for Ohio across our state, for urban and rural areas alike. Upgrading and modernizing our airports will create tens of thousands of jobs and play a key role in attracting business and growing Ohio's economy, both in the near term and for many years to come," Portman wrote in a press release. "Now that air travel is beginning to ramp up as we work to get through this pandemic, it is the right time to make significant investments in our airports to ensure they will be able to meet the increasing demands of services."
