Cedar Point gives more updates on Sawmill Creek

HURON TWP. — Cedar Point recently provided some new details regarding a restoration project it undertook, which involves rehabbing Sawmill Creek Resort. In a previous posting from earlier this year, Tony Clark, the amusement park's main spokesman, provided an inside look at the construction progress. Now, in a more recent entry, he notes the following: "We've already gone inside to see the construction progress, and as crews continue that work, we have some beautiful digital renderings to show you," Clark wrote. "These images give us a first look at how the resort will shape up once all the dust settles and we're ready to open the doors in 2022." Among some points of interest as explained by Clark: • If you're on your way to us from Cleveland or other points east, chances are you'll exit on Rye Beach Road (off Ohio 2) and follow U.S. 6/Cleveland Road to get to the park. Once you turn onto U.S. 6, the entrance to Sawmill Creek will greet you on the right or the left if you're heading out. • Once inside, gone is the traditional boxed-in check-in desk. In its place, you're greeted with Sawmill Creek's vibe right off the bat — a contemporary retreat. • After check-in, you'll probably head to your room. From the carpet to the ceiling, they're being prepared for the first guests. And those first guests will enjoy contemporary fixtures, warm and inviting colors and updated restrooms. • As you explore the rest of the property, you'll find a lot of amenities, including that world-class 18-hole golf course. But you'll also experience new offerings like The Miller's Table restaurant. The space has been opened up dramatically, and it will be a great place to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal or grab a drink at the bar. No menu to share at the moment. The culinary team is working on the cuisine as I write. • The airy and bright rotunda will be a fantastic spot to meet friends, relax for a bit or get that email checked and responded to: • If you're up for taking a dip, the indoor and outdoor pools are receiving several updates. Lounging outside in the summer sun is going to be a luxurious experience: • In addition to being a great place to vacation, Sawmill Creek is also a fantastic meeting and convention spot. On the southern side of the property, the convention center lobby and convention rooms will have updated furnishings, floor coverings and colors: Sawmill Creek by Cedar Point Resorts will open in 2022, and reservations will begin in the coming weeks. Context on Sawmill Creek In 2019, Cedar Fair, Cedar Point's parent company, purchased Sawmill Creek for $13.5 million. Cedar Fair, meanwhile, plans on investing an additional $25 million in company funds to modernize this property, which includes enhancing the hotel, conference center, golf course and other on-site entities. This past summer, a series of three separate votes occurred — Huron and Huron Township last week along with Huron Schools on Tuesday — to support a financial agreement in helping Cedar Fair transform Sawmill Creek Resort.
