NAMI lists January mental health classes

National Alliance on Mental Illness, Hancock County, will begin several mental health classes in January. • NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, eight-session education program for adult family members, partners, friends and significant others of adult individuals living with a mental health condition. The program is designed to help all family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own wellbeing. The next class begins from 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 2022, and continues for eight weeks. • NAMI Basics is a free, six-session education program for parents, guardians and other family members caring for youth (22 or younger) who are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. This education program focuses on learning about mental health conditions and how best to support a child at home, at school, and when they're getting medical care. The class begins from 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 11, 2022, and continues for six weeks. • NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session education program designed to encourage growth, healing and recovery among participants. This education program focuses on learning about goals, building support, communicating with health professionals, identifying a personal vision and more.
