Fares return to HATS, Wyandot Ride Service

Rides offered by Hancock Area Transportation Serves (HATS) and Wyandot Ride Service (WRS) with no fares required will end on Feb. 1. The cost for one-way trips inside the city of Findlay and the villages of Upper Sandusky and Carey will cost $1.50. Trips to other destinations in both counties will cost $2.50. Passengers must have exact change when they board a vehicle. The services have not charged the public for rides for over a year and a half. "With our fare structure, and the current cost of fuel, HATS and WRS are still the most economic way for those in need of transportation in Hancock and Wyandot to get to work, medical appointments and shopping," said Jamie Baker, transportation director for Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission. "We provide more than 300 rides per day for residents in Hancock and Wyandot counties who have no other transportation options." HATS and WRS are encouraging passengers to purchase passes ahead of Feb. 1. Passes can be purchased by visiting the office, 440 Scott Ave., or by calling 419-423-7261.
